Pack for a Purpose

In 2017, the BVI took a direct hit from a Category 5 hurricane (Irma) followed 2 weeks later by the passing of another Cat 5 hurricane (Maria). The needs within our community were unprecedented. Four years along, our recovery has been remarkable. Then along came the Covid-19 pandemic.

These events have created almost insurmountable setbacks to organizations which rely heavily on the generosity of others and yet they play a vital role in our community.

The CYS is pleased to partner with Pack for a Purpose, an initiative which encourages travellers to make a big impact with a small gesture. We call it “Intentional Packing”.

Pack for a Purpose and CYS, recognize the desire travellers have to make meaningful contributions to help meet the needs of places they visit.

We have adopted 4 projects, each with different needs: PAW BVI (Promoting Animal Welfare), Family Support Network (FSN), Youth Empowerment Programme (YEP) and KATSWIM (Swimming with KIDS AND THE SEA).

Through our members, we encourage charter guests to slip a few items into their suitcase using the project lists as a guide.  Guests leave the items with the crew and we take it from there.

Please click here to see what supplies are needed for any one of our 4 projects.
